VDO Active Grille Shutters for direct replacement
The most common cause for Active Grille Shutter failures is damage during a front-end collision. Other causes of AGS failures include faults in the motors or actuators that open and close the shutters or damage to the wiring that supplies them. A blown fuse is also a possible cause for malfunction, and debris or snow caught in the shutters may prevent proper operation of an active grille shutter. These failures will usually produce a fault code of P059F.

Now available for the aftermarket.
When an AGS replacement is needed, VDO Active Grille Shutters (AGS) can help restore proper engine temperature control. They are available as direct replacement service parts for aftermarket applications.
Designed to fit and operate exactly like the OE part, VDO Active Grille Shutters help optimize fuel economy by maintaining ideal engine operating temperatures across a variety of conditions, from start-up to highway driving.
Keep your cool. And your heat.
Active Grille Shutters are designed to open at lower speeds to help keep engines cool and close at higher speeds to reduce overall drag on the vehicle. AGS also assists in engine warm-up by retaining heat while the vehicle is parked.
When active grille shutters are closed, they improve aerodynamics, boosting fuel efficiency. Active Grille Shutters can fail in the open position, causing the engine to warm up more slowly, or in the closed position, which may cause the engine to run hot or overheat.
Our AGS year/make/model data is available for popular domestic applications in our online catalog.
Note: Some vehicles have more than one AGS. Some have an upper, lower, left, and right AGS.
AGS service indications:
The active grille shutter is obstructed or binding
The actuator harness has a short
Electrical connectors are broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded
The actuator has failed
The actuator has a poor electrical connection
Broken louvers or actuator arms
Collision damage
