So that everything runs smoothly
A full tank is of little use if the engine does not have a reliable fuel supply system. VDO fuel systems offer top-quality solutions for a wide range of vehicle brands and models.

Fuel pump
The fuel pump is a component of the fuel supply unit. It operates in the tank.

Fuel supply unit
The fuel supply unit consists of the fuel pump (sometimes with a swirl pot), a filter and the flange with its corresponding connections. It may also be equipped with a lever-type sensor or an immersion tube sensor.

Lever type
Lever-type sensors measure the fuel supply by means of a float and an electric gauge. With some some sensors, the ground wire is attached to the housing. Other sensors are ungrounded, i.e. the ground wire is connected separately.
The product range includes the following types of lever-type sensors:
- Without warning contact, ungrounded
- Without warning contact, ungrounded (adjustable)
- Without warning contact, ungrounded (special)
Lever-type sensors can additionally be equipped with a warning contact to indicate during continuous measurements when a level limit (reserve) has been reached.

Immersion tubes
Immersion tube sensors measure the fuel supply and are connected to an electric gauge. With some sensors, the ground wire is attached to the housing. Other sensors are ungrounded, i.e. the ground wire is connected separately.
The product range includes the following types of immersion tube sensors:
- Without warning contact, grounded or ungrounded (ø 54 mm)
- Without warning contact, grounded or ungrounded (ø 80 mm)
- With warning contact, grounded or ungrounded (ø 54 mm)
- Without warning contact, grounded or ungrounded (special)
Immersion tube sensors can additionally be equipped with a warning contact to indicate during continuous measurements when a level limit (reserve) has been reached.

Fuel pressure regulators
Fuel pressure regulators maintain the fuel pressure constant. When the preset pressure is exceeded, a spring-loaded diaphragm opens the return flow channel, enabling excess fuel to flow back into the fuel tank.

Fuel pump with swirl pot
The fuel pump with swirl pot is a component of the fuel supply unit.

Injection valve
For each operating condition of the engine, the exact amount of fuel is determined . The injection valve injects the calculated quantity precisely and at the specified time in front of the inlet valve of the cylinder, ensuring clean and efficient use of the fuel.

GDI High-pressure fuel accumulator
The pump increases the pressure (to approx. 50–350 bar, depending on the system) and delivers the fuel via the high-pressure fuel accumulator (common rail) to the injectors, which inject the fuel into the combustion chamber.
